Sioux Falls JTT Team Advances to Nationals

Sioux Empire Lobsters
The Sioux Empire Lobsters won the 18 & Under Intermediate title at the Junior Team Tennis Sectional Tournament July 25-26 at the University of Minnesota Baseline Tennis Center. The team advances to the national tournament Oct. 28-31 in Surprise, AZ. Team members include: Jared Hofer, Dobby O'Donnell, Ben Czarnecki, Scott Miller, Kara Bunkers, Brittany Kortan, Abby Siegenthaler and Alexandria Klimisch. Two of the top players this state has ever produced, along with a major contributor, were inducted into the 2010 South Daktoa Tennis Hall of Fame Sunday, July 25 at McKenna Park tennis complex in Sioux Falls. Hall of Fame Inductees: Larry Cantine of Milbank, Vermillion native Karen Bernard Heege, and SF Lincoln graduate Mike Hoeger. 2010 SD Tennis Achievement Award recipients were the Brandon Tennis Association and Ed Hunstad. "Love" was in the air Sunday afternoon as both the men's and women's top seeds cruised to dominating victories at the Asfora South Dakota Adult Open tennis tournament at McKennan Park. Tony Larson of Fridley, Minn., and Duke University sophomore Mary Clayton of Plantation, Fla., each won 6-0, 6-0, and each claimed a first South Dakota Open title. Read More
